Jean's a community gem

2 March 2017

Our Councillor for Ruddington, Cllr Jean Greenwood, is retiring from her role as Lead Community Safety Volunteer at Nottinghamshire Police today, after twenty three years of service.

Cllr Greenwood has mentored and organised many new police volunteers over a number of years, in addition to her role as a long-serving Borough Councillor. In 2015, she was awarded the British Empire Medal by Buckingham Palace for her volunteer work with Nottinghamshire Police and has given thousands of hours of her own time to volunteering.

Inspector Craig Berry,  Neighbourhood Policing Inspector at West Bridgford Police Station said: "Jean is truly a person who believes in people and making her community and society a better place but she's decided that now is the right time to hang up a her boots as a volunteer so that she can enjoy her retirement. Rushcliffe borough as a whole has benefitted greatly from Jean's selfless community work and we all wish her all the best in her retirement."

Congratulations Councillor Greenwood and well done!
