Art exhibition is a big draw for new Rushcliffe Arena
31 March 2017
An exhibition of artwork created by local school children will be taking place at Rushcliffe Arena in West Bridgford from Thursday 30 March until Friday 21 April, to coincide with the school Easter holidays.
Working with the help of Lady Bay artist Belinda Poon, groups from 12 primary schools in the borough have been using a combination of printing, wire sculpting and collage to depict scenes of ‘Recreation in Rushcliffe.’ Locations featured include iconic sporting landmarks such as the City Ground and Trent Bridge, as well as popular parks and leisure activities. The exhibition is the first of its kind to be staged at Rushcliffe Arena, which recently reopened after a £15 million redevelopment by Rushcliffe Borough Council.
The exhibition has been co-ordinated by the Rushcliffe Learning Alliance, a group of 28 schools in south Nottinghamshire as part of their Enrichment and Challenge Programme.
Artist Belinda Poon said: “The children worked with great enthusiasm and passion. The amount of talent we have in Rushcliffe is amazing and their wonderful work can be celebrated in this fantastic space.”
