Full Steam Ahead for Rail Users in Radcliffe and Bingham
18 October 2017
Rushcliffe Borough Council is calling for future improvements to be made to East Midlands Trains to benefit local communities – including, once again, seeking central Government commitment to increasing the number of trains stopping at Bingham and Radcliffe-on-Trent stations from hourly to every 30 minutes at peak times to support residents and business alike. These calls are in response to a consultation by the Department of Transport to help shape long-term improvements to the East Midlands rail franchise.
In addition, the Council has taken the opportunity to express its disappointment in the cancellation of the electrification of Midland Main Line less than two years after this frequently-delayed scheme was originally given the go-ahead, and has asked the Secretary of State to reconsider his decision as a matter of urgency.
Councillor Andy Edyvean, Cabinet Holder for Economy and Business said: ‘The Borough Council’s primary goal remains to see improvements to the Nottingham to Grantham Poacher Line to benefit our local communities and help promote wider economic growth of the area’.
