Local singers and bands, street theatre entertainers, santa’s grotto, a children’s fairground and a free mini ice rink were all hugely popular with local residents and visitors throughout the day.

The adjacent Christmas Market took on a continental feel this year as it hosted a YouNG Goes Euro Market with young entrepreneurs from Italy, Slovakia and Poland joining British young people to trade and develop their business skills.‌

The Deputy Leader of Rushcliffe Borough Council Cllr Debbie Mason said: “This was another wonderful lights switch on to welcome Christmas to West Bridgford and this part of Rushcliffe.

‌“Thank you to the thousands of people from local communities who came along and supported this event and local traders. It’s an important time of year for our businesses and as a council we want to continue to ensure events of this nature support the growth of the local economy.”
