Car park changes for Keyworth from July 2 to support local economy
27 June 2018
Changes to parking at Bunny Lane car park in Keyworth are set to start from Monday (July 2) to help support local businesses in the village.
Residents and visitors using the facility will be able to park free of charge for two hours using a voucher from a new ticket machine.
Those wishing to stay for up to three hours will need to pay a new charge of £1 and those over three hours will be set a £20 fee. New machines, signage and bay markings will all direct motorists to the new arrangements.
In April, Rushcliffe Borough Council announced the changes to discourage long stay car parking and ensure the facility is available for local residents and visitors to shop without hassle in the village centre.
The Council’s Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Finance Cllr Gordon Moore said: “From July 2 motorists will need to collect a voucher for the length of their stay. We welcome all those who wish to use the car park but these new changes are for the benefit of shoppers and businesses alike rather than all day parkers.
“We are very keen to support efforts so the local economy can thrive and convenient parking for local consumers we know is key to this.
“Keyworth Parish Council have kindly reiterated to motorists wishing to park for longer than three hours to consider using the nearby village hall car park on Elm Avenue.
“We are also reconfiguring the car park to ensure that there are sufficient disabled spaces and drop off and pick up areas for those needing to visit the health centre.”
