  2. What are the year increments for your Long Service awards?
  3. What types of Long Service awards do you offer (e.g. certificates, badges, plaques, etc.) and what is the design and production process?
  4. Do you offer money for Long Service awards, and if so, how much?
  5. How are the Long Service awards presented? Email, post, or management; a formal ceremony or presentation, and if so, what is the typical format and attendance of such events?
  6. Are Long Service awards automatically presented upon reaching the qualifying milestone, or do employees need to actively apply for recognition?
  7. How many Long Service awards have been presented by your council in the past 5 years? 
  8. Have you historically offered Long Service Awards/recognition/rewards? What was this scheme? Why was the scheme removed?

  1. Do you currently offer employees Long Service awards? Yes
  2. What are the year increments for your Long Service awards?
    • 20 years – Thank you letter from the Chief Executive
    • 25 years - £500 voucher of employee’s choice and framed certificate signed
      by the Mayor
    • 30 years – 3 days additional annual leave in that year and framed certificate
      signed by the Mayor
    • 35 years - £750 voucher of employee’s choice and framed certificate signed
      by the Mayor
    • 40 years – 3 days additional annual leave in that year and framed certificate
      signed by the Mayor
    • 45 years- £1000 voucher of employee’s choice and framed certificate signed
      by the Mayor
  3. What types of Long Service awards do you offer (e.g. certificates, badges, plaques, etc.) and what is the design and production process?
    • We produce an inhouse certificate using Microsoft Word 
  4. Do you offer money for Long Service awards, and if so, how much?
    • No, we don’t offer money only vouchers, value as above
  5. How are the Long Service awards presented? Email, post, or management; a formal ceremony or presentation, and if so, what is the typical format and attendance of such events?
    • These are presented by the management team and recognized in our weekly
      staff matters to all staff members
  6. Are Long Service awards automatically presented upon reaching the qualifying milestone, or do employees need to actively apply for recognition?
    • We internally manage the process and the manager is informed when a member of their staff is due to receive to reach a recognised length of service
  7. How many Long Service awards have been presented by your council in the past 5 years? 
    • 17 long service awards have been presented
  8. Have you historically offered Long Service Awards/recognition/rewards? What was this scheme? Why was the scheme removed?
    • Yes, historically we have always offered a voucher at the 25 year point. In January 2024 we increased the recognition points to the ones outlined in question 2.
