Response
1. Definition of antisemitism
1.a You informed us on 2 September 2020 that the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance Definition of Antisemitism ('IHRA Definition') was adopted by Rushcliffe Borough Council in November 2018 by the Executive Management team. It is not clear if the examples were included in the adoption.
See antisemitism.org/definition for more information about the IHRA Definition and the IHRA statement on the integrality of the examples.
- This was adopted in November 2019, as per our correspondence with you in 2020.
Please confirm the precise date of adoption of the IHRA Definition by the Council and provide a working link to the minutes/motion evidencing the adoption.
Kindly clarify whether the examples were intended to be included in the adoption or whether they were specifically excluded.
-
We do not have a formal minute, however our adoption and how we make reference to the definition and examples can be evidenced from the following page on the Council’s website relating to Community Safety.
1.b Since adoption by the Council in November 2018, please confirm if any motions amending or rejecting adoption have been passed or defeated by the Council (including any amendment of adoption to include the examples)?
