I am requesting the following information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000. Please provide the data for the period from April 1, 2023 to March 31, 2024:
- Playground Closures:
The number of playgrounds permanently closed.
- New Playgrounds:
The number of new playgrounds opened.
- Reports of Vandalism:
The total number of vandalism reports in playgrounds.
If available, provide details of the types of vandalism reported (e.g., graffiti, damage to equipment).
- Number of Injuries in Play Parks:
The total number of injuries reported in playgrounds, broken down by type of injury.
If available, a breakdown of injuries by specific equipment (e.g., swings, slides, climbing frames).
- Inspection Frequency:
The frequency with which playgrounds are inspected by the council.

- Number of Injuries in Play Parks:
- 3, of which 2 x minor abrasions, 1 x fracture.
- 2 related to swings, 1 related to a Multi Unit (reported and recoded incidents as logged in PSS Live)
- Inspection Frequency:
Weekly. A ROSPA Qualified Inspector will visit the play areas once per week and inspect each item of play equipment, the surfacing and other ancillary items. All defects will be notified to the Council’s Facilities Manager.
