Please note that as the designated waste collection authority (WCA) Rushcliffe BC are responsible for the collection of waste only. Disposal arrangements fall under the jurisdiction of Nottinghamshire County Council as the designated waste disposal authority (WDA).
The amount of waste generated within the last year for each of the below categories
Period 1st April 2024 to 31st March 2025
- General – 24,519 tonnes residual waste
- Recycling – 8918 tonnes plus 12,385 tonnes of garden waste
- Food Waste – not collected
- Confidential – not collected
- High Temperature Incineration (clinical, yellow) Services – 7.93 tonnes
- Alternative Treatment (clinical, orange) Services – not collected
- Offensive (clinical, tiger) Services – not collected
The amount of waste Spend within the last year for each of the below categories - Please note spend is not broken down into each waste stream. For the financial year 2024/2025 total net spend on waste collection is £2,006,900
This includes all costs associated with collections including staff, vehicles and fuel and maintenance, and all other associated costs and any income received from services such as a chargeable garden waste collection service and bulky waste collections.
All collections are carried out in house so no contract in place.

Is there any local strategy in place which would mitigate the usage of road miles and the ensuing carbon footprint required to take the waste away? No, however all main refuse trucks use Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil (HVO)
Do you expect energy renewal/recycling rates with regards to your waste treatments? Yes but this falls under the remit of the WDA
