Request

Can you tell me how many general enquiries, service requests via the councils report a problem process have you had relating to litter, rubbish and debris across the trunk road network in Rushcliffe?

Response

I have to advise you that we will not be able to answer your request without exceeding the appropriate limit. This is because to retrieve the information requested would involve having to go through each individual report a problem request the council received about litter as they are unable to be filtered by the area requested.

Section 12 of the Freedom of Information Act makes provision for public authorities to refuse requests for information where the cost of dealing with them would exceed the appropriate limit, which for local authorities is set at £450. This represents the estimated cost of one person spending 2 working days in determining whether the authority holds the information, and locating, retrieving and extracting it. The appropriate limit is prescribed by regulation 3 of the Freedom of Information and Data Protection (appropriate Limit and Fees) Regulations 2004.

The Council is able to provide how many reports of litter were received over the last 5 years however these cover all litter requests from across the entire borough which could be of any area or location, for example parks and open spaces, town centres, residential streets.

June – Dec 2019 65 reports (please note the council changed reporting systems and do not hold any information further back than this date)
