Hardship Relief

Businesses suffering hardship can claim for help with their rates.

It is at the discretion of the Council whether to grant relief and it considers each application on an individual basis.

The Council requests the following as part of the application:

• Evidence to show that it is the Business Rates that are causing the hardship.
• The effect the closure of the business would have on the community in terms of the loss of service provided to the council taxpayer.
• The effect of unemployment if the business closed.
• The last three years' audited accounts.
