£63,000 refurbishment for Boundary Road play area taking shape
Last updated: 6/12/2023West Bridgford’s popular Boundary Road Play area is receiving a £63,000 refurbishment and is set to open in the coming weeks.
The development includes the installation of a new multi climbing unit and accessible seesaw, new swing sets, benches and the refurbishment of springers, multi play toddler unit, multi play junior unit, zip line, other play equipment and ground works including improvements to the safety surface.
Works began earlier this month and will replace its large earth mound and make the site more accessible whilst incorporating natural play elements with bunds and boulders.
It’s part of Rushcliffe Borough Council’s wider investment in parks, with Adbolton Lane play park’s £80,000 makeover completed earlier this year and Greythorn Drive and Rushcliffe Country Park set to receive further improvements next spring.
The Council’s Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Leisure and Wellbeing, ICT and Member Development Cllr Jonathan Wheeler said: “Community play facilities such as these are so important to our residents and visitors, so we are delighted to be able not only repair the play area but improve them for the long term and make it fit for the future.
“The re-development of Boundary Road sees more inclusive equipment introduced, suitable for a wider age range whilst still incorporating natural play elements.
“We know this is a popular park and we thank residents for their patience after features have been closed for some time. The finish line is in sight and weather permitting the work is due to be complete in time for the Christmas holidays.”
