Applications open for further community projects to receive up to £40k UKSPF and REPF funding

Organisations across Rushcliffe are invited to apply for the latest round of up to £40k funding from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) and Rural England Prosperity Fund (REPF), supported by the UK Government.
Community groups, businesses, voluntary or public sector organisations from anywhere in the Borough can apply for the support by Friday January 19, 2024.
Projects can cover a broad range of initiatives and examples include:
- Creating and improving local green spaces
- Supporting local arts, cultural, heritage and creative activities
- Boosting local sports facilities, tournaments, teams and leagues
- Supporting businesses to grow
- Diversification of farm businesses
Projects must be delivered in Rushcliffe and organisations must be able to spend their funding allocation between April 1, 2024 and March 31, 2025.
In the previous round of funding, RBC allocated funding to 15 different organisations delivering a wide variety of projects, but all with the aim of enhancing the Borough.
These projects have included:
- Capital improvements to lighting and staging and training for performers and volunteers at East Leake Amateur Players and electrical works at East Leake Village Hall to improve lighting, ensure future safety and save energy.
- Enabling further participation in volunteer and therapeutic horticulture sessions at FarmEco Community Farm in Screveton and activities such as selling and donating farm-grown food locally.
- Meeting local demand at the Framework Knitters Museum in Ruddington by creating accessible, covered space in garden for use by community groups and local businesses.
- The conversion of stables at The Martin’s Arms in Colston Bassett and expanding the business by creating B&B rooms.
- Supporting the development of the Great Central Railway in Ruddington including the provision of a new building to store four carriages and a workshop area. The project will enable a new events space and attract further tourism to the site and surrounding area.
- Updating and installation of floodlights to the pitches and car park at Keyworth Rugby Club. It will increase evening training sessions, enable more matches to be fulfilled and allow the club to host Girls’ under-18 elite player pathway.
- Essential masonry repair work to St Mary’s Church in Colston Bassett which is a Scheduled Ancient Monument and Grade 1 listed building. The work has allowed it to be safely kept open to the public who enjoy visiting the site and its churchyard

Deputy Leader of Rushcliffe Borough Council Cllr Abby Brennan said: “The last round of our UKSPF and REPF funding was a huge success and supported a range of fantastic projects which benefit local communities, increase tourism and enhance economic growth in the area.
“From rural and urban business development to impactful community projects, we can see how these grants can transform projects and help them reach their goals or aspire to new ones.
“I’d like to remind residents across the Borough that applications for UKSPF and REPF 2024/25 grant funds are open until January 19, 2024 and I encourage anyone in the Borough with an eligible application to take advantage of this funding opportunity.”
