Flintham Cricket Club welcomes modern upgrades to pavilion with support from RBC

Flintham Cricket Club has transformed Flintham Sports Pavilion into a modern, welcoming space for the community thanks to support from Rushcliffe Borough Council (RBC) through its Rural England Prosperity Fund (REPF).
The upgraded pavilion, located on the sports ground on Inholms Road, now features large glass doors with veranda, offering open views of the ground, a fully equipped energy-efficient kitchen, a bar and contemporary furnishings, creating a social and modern hub to host sporting events and bring residents together.
RBC awarded £40,000 of REPF to the renovation project that was matched with £25,000 from the Flintham Cricket Club, England Cricket Board and Flintham Sports & Social Association, helping to expand the use of the facility, to host all year round sporting and community events, including the annual ‘Flintham Fest’, family-friendly events and a series of social ‘warm space’ sessions to support local residents.
RBC’s Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Leisure & Wellbeing, ICT & Member Development Cllr Jonathan Wheeler visited the club to meet members of Flintham Cricket Club and Flintham Sports & Social Association (FS&SA) and see how the improvements are benefiting the community.
Cllr Wheeler said: “The cricket ground is a vital asset for the local area and this renovation was much needed to create a more inviting space for residents.
“We’re delighted to support this renovation project and the improvements look superb. The space is clean, contemporary and welcoming and is already having a positive impact through successful community events.
“It’s also great to see an excellent partnership between all the organisations involved, ensuring long-term benefits for residents.”
Chair of Flintham Cricket Club Mark Arthur added: “We’re enormously grateful to Rushcliffe Borough Council for the support in refurbishing the pavilion.
“This space is at the heart of the community and since May last year, the pavilion has welcomed over 3,200 visitors for both sport and social gatherings.
“We’re proud to have this hospitable and welcoming place for all generations to enjoy.”
Chair of FS&SA Jacqui Turrell said: “We’re pleased to work in partnership with the cricket club and RBC on this fantastic project. The pavilion now hosts a wide range of events throughout the year, from Halloween, Christmas and New Year celebrations to milestone birthdays, ensuring the financial viability of the building in order to support sports.
“Post Covid it’s really important to have community engagement events here in the village to encourage people to get out and meet each other. This project has reinvigorated new life into the building which will support sports and social for many years to come.”
