Rushcliffe Borough Council (RBC) is continuing its investment in Rushcliffe Country Park’s popular play area with the addition of new inclusive play equipment and resurfaced paths to improve accessibility.
The play area will feature new auditory sensory play items, including eco chimes, an eco-rain wheel, a musical bell tree, a giant 4 in a row game, interactive play panels and more to provide a fun and engaging experience for children of all abilities.
To further enhance accessibility, all pathways within the play area will be resurfaced with tarmac, featuring playful animal graphics.
The path resurfacing work is expected to take place during the first week of April where the play area will be temporarily closed. RBC apologises for any inconvenience and appreciates residents’ patience while these improvements take place.
The new inclusive play features are expected to be installed later in the month.
The project follow’s last spring’s successful refurbishment, which introduced a variety of new and inclusive play equipment such as a pendulum pod swing and wheelchair-accessible seesaw for all children to enjoy.
Rushcliffe Borough Council’s Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Transformation, Leisure & Wellbeing Cllr Jonathan Wheeler said “Rushcliffe Country Park is among the jewels in the crown of our Borough, attracting over 300,000 visitors a year and the play area is very popular with children and young people.
“We’re delighted to continue our investment in the playground by introducing even more inclusive play equipment ensuring that children of all abilities, can enjoy our play parks together. The upgraded tarmac paths will also improve the accessibility for wheelchair users and pushchairs.
“We appreciate everyone’s patience during the temporary play area closure in early April, which is necessary to ensure the safety of visitors while the work is completed. We will keep residents updated on the planned works so please keep a look out for further details on our social media channels.
“These improvements are part of our ongoing commitment to enhancing play facilities and leisure spaces across the Borough, aligning with our Play Strategy that focuses on the importance of environmental and educational opportunities that enrich our residents’ quality of life.”
