The astroturf football pitch will be resurfaced soon and a new bench also installed to provide seating around the play area.

This latest round of investment in local sites is seeing £175,000 of upgrades at the site and Rushcliffe Country Park.

Works have been completed by Bradmore-based playground equipment supplier Proludic Ltd who have designed the updated features.

To mark the reopening of the play area, RBC, Proludic Ltd and pupils from Greythorn Primary School celebrated with a ribbon cutting by the Mayor of Rushcliffe at the park on Wednesday July 10.

Rushcliffe Borough Council’s Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Leisure & Wellbeing, ICT & Member Development Cllr Jonathan Wheeler said: “We’re pleased to see the opening of the newly refurbished Greythorn Park play area where local children have enjoyed playing on the brand-new accessible equipment.

“The play area looks fantastic, and in addition to the recent refurbishment at Rushcliffe Country Park play area, we’ve invested a total of £175,000 in these parks to provide new, modern and accessible features for all children to enjoy.

“We are listening to residents and parkgoers’ views as to what they want to see with features at their local parks and will assist in updating our Play Strategy in the coming months.”

Greythorn Primary School Headteacher Tae Carpenter added: “We are extremely proud of our school council for their involvement in the local council plans for the new Greythorn Drive Park.

“The fact that our pupils have been invited to officially open the park demonstrates the strong community links that our school has and showcases the ability of our children to be actively involved in community projects from start to finish.

“This is a great opportunity for our pupils to see the impact of their opinions of the proposed plans come into fruition and we couldn’t be more thrilled to be part of this exciting venture with Rushcliffe Borough Council.”

Managing Director of Proludic Ltd Rob Baker said: "We are delighted to see the completion of this wonderful play area in West Bridgford.

“Providing spaces where children and families can come together is essential for fostering community spirit and promoting active lifestyles.

“Play is a fundamental aspect of childhood development, and we are proud to contribute to such an important project that will benefit the local community for years to come."
