RBC explores plans to relocate Customer Service Centre to West Bridgford Library

Rushcliffe Borough Council (RBC) is exploring plans to relocate its current Customer Service Centre on Gordon Road in West Bridgford to the town’s library to help deliver an even better value for money service and maintain its current opening hours.
The authority is working in partnership with Inspire who operate the library on behalf of Nottinghamshire County Council to consider the site move, which is subject to RBC re-letting its current site in the town and there will be no changes to library services if the move takes place.
They will also see no change to existing Customer Service opening times of Monday and Thursday 8.30am to 5pm and Friday 8.30am to 4.30pm.
Sharing a space at the library on Bridgford Road could realise benefits for both parties whilst maintaining access to the service adjacent to local car parks and bus routes.
The authority’s Cabinet will discuss relocation proposals at its meeting on February 13 and there are no plans to change its existing Customer Contact Points at Cotgrave Hub, East Leake Library and Bingham Medical Centre.
Rushcliffe Borough Council’s Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Leisure and Wellbeing, ICT and Member Development Cllr Jonathan Wheeler said: “We are committed to continuing to have a town centre presence in West Bridgford.
“This is to ensure residents can access face-to-face services easily, supporting the most vulnerable in our community and potentially freeing up a unit on Gordon Road for a new business to complement the fantastic array of businesses thriving in Central Avenue.
“Our digital services continue to develop but we’re committed to convenience for those who need to see us in person, aware of the complexities of some enquiries and residents will still receive the same fantastic level of service if the move does take place.
“This move could be a great example of public sector partners working together to save money that could be invested in services whilst maintaining existing standards and accessibility.
“We’re actively seeking to ensure all customers can access the services they require in a manner and at a time that suits them whilst ensuring we maximise value for money for Rushcliffe residents.”
