Rushcliffe Borough Council (RBC) has invested £175,000 in 2024 in its play parks to provide new, modern and inclusive facilities for all children to enjoy.

Vital refurbishments have taken place at the Council’s play areas including the popular Rushcliffe Country Park, Boundary Road and Greythorn Park in West Bridgford and Adbolton Lane Playground in Lady Bay.

New inclusive equipment at the play areas includes inclusive seesaws, wheelchair-accessible roundabouts, pendulum pod swings, dynamic rope swings and more.

The investment follows the results of a survey conducted by the Council where residents and parkgoers’ shared their views on what they want to see with features at their local parks.

An RBC consultation on play parks that took place earlier this year will also assist in updating their Play Strategy in the coming months which will help to shape further investment in community facilities.

In 2025, further development will take place at Bridgford Park and Bridgfield Park in West Bridgford set to feature further inclusive play equipment.

Rushcliffe Borough Council’s Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Leisure & Wellbeing, ICT & Member Development Cllr Jonathan Wheeler said: “We’re proud to invest in our parks and it’s been a fantastic year seeing the reopening of the refurbished play parks across the Borough.

“The new accessible equipment such as the wheelchair-friendly roundabouts and inclusive seesaws are important to help ensure all children regardless of their abilities, can enjoy our play parks.

“Our investment in community play facilities such as these demonstrate our commitment to enhancing the quality of life for our residents and visitors and we are delighted to be able not only repair play areas but improve them for the long term and make it fit for the future for all families to enjoy.

“We’re set to make further upgrades to Bridgford Park and Bridgford Park in 2025 with exciting new features so look out for more updates in the New Year.”

Works have been completed by playground equipment supplier Proludic Ltd based in Bunny, who have designed the updated features.
