Share your views on proposed funding for six community group projects in West Bridgford

Last updated: 11/10/2024

Rushcliffe Borough Council (RBC) is seeking views from West Bridgford, Lady Bay and Edwalton residents about how it should allocate local portions of Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) funding to six projects where development has taken place.

West Bridgford Neighbourhood CIL is funded by developers and enables local services, infrastructure and facilities to be supported in meeting the needs of a growing population, and to serve greater numbers of residents.

In its latest round of funding RBC has up to £98,000 to allocate to six local projects and is looking to support these groups with funding contributions up to £25,000 each and as part of the plans, the Council is looking for feedback on the current proposals.

As West Bridgford has no Town or Parish Council, RBC takes on this role but must decide how this funding is used in consultation with the local community.

Expressions of interest have recently been invited from local groups and organisations and there are now six projects open for consultation which include:

  • Breathe Balance Be - Breathwork for Wellbeing Workshops
  • Lady Bay Arts - Organisation Development and Workshops
  • Lady Bay Tennis Club – Security Gates, Storage, etc.
  • Music for Everyone - Open Voices West Bridgford
  • Positively Mindful - Community Outreach Courses
  • Rushcliffe District Scout Association - Tree works at Stonepit Wood Scout Campsite

Details of these eligible projects and how to take part in the survey is available online and views should be submitted by Sunday November 3.

Future rounds of funding will be released in Spring 2025 on a six-monthly cycle.

RBC’s Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Planning and Housing Cllr Roger Upton said: “We’re seeking views from local residents on identifying priorities on how CIL funding should be spent in West Bridgford in this latest round of support.

“There are six organisations and community groups across West Bridgford who could benefit from further funding to support their projects in their area. To find out more about these projects, please visit our website.

“We’ve seen a number of successful projects currently being delivered in West Bridgford including a new Community Hub at the West Bridgford Young People Centre, which aims to create a healthier and more connected community.

“For other groups keen to find out more on how this funding could help them in the future, please look out for further details of future rounds in the New Year.”
