Tree works to take place at Keyworth Leisure Centre

Tree works are set to take place in Keyworth Leisure Centre’s grounds as part of Rushcliffe Borough Council’s (RBC) wider tree management of its sites.
From September 26, its Streetwise team will trim and remove trees adjacent to Church Drive and Wolds Drive in its grounds.
One tree has unfortunately reached the end of its natural life and another is largely dead and will be removed whilst six others are suppressed or have defects which will be thinned out to give other trees in the area more room to grow.
Two maple trees opposite the Co-op have enclosed the adjacent streetlights and will also be removed again allowing adjacent trees more space.
RBC understands the sensitivity around removal of any trees but the work is necessary and proportional to promote the development of the other trees in the area, backed by its project that has seen over 11,000 free trees having been made available to residents in recent years.
The work forms part of the Council’s arboriculture tree management and there will be a limited impact on parking in or around the leisure centre or the adjacent South Wolds Academy.
Works on September 26 are expected to include some parking spaces on Church Drive being unavailable.
There will also be an update in due course on a solution for a surface water leak which has been visible on footpaths on both Wolds and Church Drive.
