Upgrade for Central Avenue thanks to UKSPF support

Last updated: 22/1/2025

Rushcliffe Borough Council (RBC) is working with Nottinghamshire County Council on plans to invest some of the Council’s UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) allocation to upgrade seating, planters and street furniture on West Bridgford’s Central Avenue.

It is hoped works will commence in the coming weeks, subject to final approval from the County Council, creating new seating and a welcome area adjacent to the 200 Degrees coffee shop in the town.

It will see new integrated planters, cycle stands and bins installed in the area and the repositioning of benches and bins to help alleviate pinch points for pedestrians at peak times.

RBC’s Deputy Leader Cllr Abby Brennan said: “This is welcome investment in our busiest town centre in the Borough.

“West Bridgford is performing strongly as a town centre with great mix of businesses and high footfall, like other town centres across the Borough. We know that we cannot be complacent though and we want to ensure we support our town and village centres where we can.

“Our recently published Economic Growth Strategy has a strong focus on town and village centres and we will work hard to support them with a range of projects and initiatives over the coming years.”
