West Bridgford Dramatic Society installs solar panels funded by UKSPF reducing energy costs

West Bridgford Dramatic Society (WBDS) has installed solar panels funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF), enabling the club to reduce electricity costs and save energy.
Rushcliffe Borough Council (RBC) allocated £12,600 of UKSPF to the West Bridgford Dramatic Society, who also provided £2,100 towards installing solar panels, a battery and inverter.
The panels installed by Spectrum Energy Systems of Worksop are now powering regular lighting and appliances, reducing running costs by over £1,000 per year and will save approximately 2.17 tonnes of CO2 per annum.
RBC’s Deputy Leader and Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Business and Growth recently visited the venue and met the WBDS’s Director Robert Dixon and Treasurer Calum Sharp to see how the solar panels are benefiting the club.
Cllr Brennan said: “WBDS is a fantastic venue and it’s great to see through the support of UKSPF, the club are cutting down on their energy consumption and saving over £1,000 in energy costs.
“This project is making a positive impact on the environment, aligning with our Carbon Clever priorities as a Council, and is helping the local community by helping to keep the club sustainable for years to come.
“By reducing electricity costs, the club can continue to deliver community theatre in West Bridgford to the benefit of their audiences and members.”
Robert Dixon added: “West Bridgford Dramatic Society are delighted that we have received this UKSPF grant from RBC.
“The solar panels enabled us to massively reduce our energy bills and means we can invest more into our theatre, bringing great shows to the local community.”
WBDS run regular productions at their theatre on Stamford Road, West Bridgford. Tickets are now available for their current play, Orlando, which is running until November 16. Find out more on the WBDS website.
