West Bridgford teen park play area refurb to mark over £1m of investment

Last updated: 19/2/2025

Recent investments in play area refurbishments by Rushcliffe Borough Council (RBC) sites will pass the £1m mark soon with work starting on the Bridgfield Teen Park in West Bridgford in the coming weeks.

It will see a host of new features installed at the site including a climbing structure, balancing trim trail, three social hammocks and four wooden benches and new inclusive equipment.

This includes a teen workout unit featuring monkey bars and a climbing net, birds nest steel swing and teen shelter alongside refurbishment of current play equipment, ground works and resurfacing for the park aimed for older children.

The improvements since 2021 have been at parks and open spaces the Council owns including many in West Bridgford and at Rushcliffe Country Park with other parks across the borough often maintained by Town and Parish Councils and other organisations.

It includes a total of nearly £300,000 of funding for the site with refurbishments at West Park and Abbey Park in the town planned for later this year.

Rushcliffe Borough Council’s Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Leisure & Wellbeing, ICT & Member Development Cllr Jonathan Wheeler said: “This latest refurbishment highlights another milestone as we reach over £1m of investment in our play areas since 2021.

“As spring arrives soon we want even more people to enjoy our great facilities as they get out and about in the better weather and our parks and play areas are the perfect places to meet friends and have fun.

“We know how much our residents benefit from the ongoing upgrades and really value the facilities we continue to invest in.

“The investment in additional inclusive play equipment is important to us, so that all our residents can enjoy our wonderful play parks.”

Works will be completed by Bunny based playground equipment supplier Proludic Ltd who have designed the updated features.
