Ratcliffe Local Development Order
The Ratcliffe on Soar Local Development Order (LDO) was adopted on 13 July 2023 and is available to view on our Planning-Online website.
The LDO has been prepared to help shape the plans for redevelopment of the Ratcliffe on Soar power station site. It grants planning permission for the site’s redevelopment.
The power station will close at the end of September 2024 in line with government policy to end coal-fired power generation. The site is part of the East Midlands Freeport, which is a government initiative to encourage innovation and job creation. Rushcliffe Borough Council worked with Uniper, owner of the power station, to prepare the LDO and identify an appropriate redevelopment scheme for the site.
Previous stages
Public consultation was undertaken on the initial plans for the site between November 2021 and January 2022. Further details on this stage are available on the Ratcliffe Local Development Order website.
A draft LDO was published for consultation in July 2022. Public exhibitions were held during August 2022. The information boards displayed at the exhibition events are available to view: Ratcliffe LDO Display Boards August 2022
A revised draft LDO was published in December 2022 and consulted on until 19 January 2023. The revised draft LDO documents and other supporting documents are available on our Planning-Online website.
